The Backstory
When you’re a pilot, you could go anywhere at nearly any time. So, that Andrew picked Acadia for his secret summer proposal makes us feel pretty happy about our little island. His love story began when Olivia was living in New York City. On an EWR layover, Andrew posted from the city on his IG story. Olivia saw, and asked him for coffee. Which then turned into dinner, then hours of walking around the city.
They now live in North Carolina, a hub for American Airlines. Their first trip together was to Acadia, and where they first said “I love you”, while walking around Jordan Pond. So, it only felt right to return to the scene for entry into their next chapter. Though Olivia wasn’t aware of the entire plan.
The challenge was scheduling. Andrew doesn’t get his schedule from AA until the month prior. Then the ring was on a delay. So, what was originally planned for June, then became July. Andrew would email asking about a possible date, we’d let him know our availability, and then it would all change. “I just got a trip removed this weekend, are you by chance free?” Sure! “Ok, I’ll call you between flights!” This was how it went for a while, until everything magically came together and a date was locked in for late July. Sadly, the only missing part of the plan was their golden retriever, Harrison, who would be holding down the Homefront. Thus answering the question, “can pilots bring their dogs to work?”
How it Happened
With a location agreed upon prioritizing privacy, we dialed in on the rest of the details. For us, we like to know a couple’s personality. Our photography style aims to capture who you are, so we get to know a proposee as well as we can without ever meeting. Andrew described Olivia as like no other girl he’d ever met. “Her smile and laugh are so contagious and she immediately brightens any room that she walks in to.” Granted, we often hear this, but Olivia proved Andrew completely accurate. Had there been other people around, her smile would have lit them all up. All our planning and waiting was rewarded in excess. Late July is typically lush, warm, and with late golden sunsets. The session was at some of the best Acadia proposal locations and stunning in every way!
