Adventurous elegance. That’s how we define these two. The kind where one look isn’t enough. But in the end you find yourself completely drawn in by them and experiencing oodles of laughter. A Glen Magna Farms wedding was the perfect combination of sophistication and comfort. And fit them to a T.

Kristina & Ryan met the old fashioned way. In a bar. Or at work through mutual friends, depending on your point of view. Both working for a bio research company. And work had a habit of frequenting a bar after business hours.
The location was State Park, a bar in Cambridge. Ryan quickly took notice of her recognizing her from work. A vicious game of shuffleboard ensued. Then they chatted for a few hours. She was oblivious to his interest. It took her about a month to realize he wasn’t interested in being just friends.

Thursday happy hours became a trend at the office. Ryan would come over and chat with Kristina, turning on his “more than friends” persuasive charms. But still nothing.
Their office had different Christmas parties based on their departments. Ryan’s department had a renowned party and she had heard of it. Being that he is in the finance department, this surprised us!

Anyway, Ryan invited Kristina to go with him. They stayed up all night. It was the day before her birthday. They ended the night with the most romantic fist bump ever. At Kristina’s initiation. Ryan was a bit confused as to where that meant he stood with her! And it’s likely she will never live this down.

Ryan proposed on the coldest day in Feb 2016, with what seemed like a -40 windchill. At the Ice Castles in Lincoln, NH. Ryan sought out the deepest, darkest corner to propose. He found a throne made out of ice near the end of their tour. Finally the seas parted and the crowd dispersed. Only one other couple was there and Ryan asked them if they could snap a pic.
Kristina sat on the throne and complained about her butt being cold. He got down on one knee and got the ring out but his fingers were numb. He was worried he would drop the ring. Then people started cheering and they realized they were no longer alone!

While they may laugh about their engagement, it seems to be par for the course. When we met them in Cambridge at State Park for the engagement shoot. It was freezing. And windy. No one in their right mind would be out taking pictures. But they were game and smiled, laughed and held each other closer. It was apparent to us that not much could phase them.

Only a few months into dating they stole away to Costa Rica together. They explored all over the western part of the country, and the experience proved to them what great team they are.
From there the adventures grew. Skiing trips in the White Mountains. Bruins games. Eating out. Weekend warrior destinations. Lake houses, DIY fireworks and hiking.
They ski a lot in the winter. They go to Ragged Mt and Loon. Bruins games. They eat out “way too much” They travel a lot. And they make each other smile. In a way that shines through their eyes. We honestly can’t imagine them not smiling in one another’s presence.

Their Glen Magna Farms wedding was a perfect reflection of their life together. Full of fun, laughter, food and dancing. City meets country. The Victorian mansion was not only a gorgeous backdrop but also their location for prep.
Kristina took a gorgeous room with an antique canopy bed while Ryan gathered with his friends and family in a nearby study.
While guests arrived playing lawn games on the grounds, the two honorees enjoyed their friends’ company and every moment in between.

Most of their friends came from the Boston area. And especially fun for us, we saw many familiar faces! You may recognize them too from Courtney & Dave’s wedding!
Glen Magna Farms blew us away in its beauty and hidden gems. Kristina & Ryan laid eyes on one another under an enormous beech tree. Then made their way to the garden with an arch raised on a trellis.

While the May sun warmed us all, they laughed their way to marital status. Then stole away for a private celebration, just them and our cameras.
Lawn games during cocktail hour set the mood for a fun evening as guests awaited dinner. Signature cocktails were served for each. Kristina’s choice was a Moscow Mule, Ryan’s a Texas Tea.

Originally from the far northern end of Maine, Kristina is no stranger to cold. And as night fell a spring chill hit the air. Just in time for the dance floor to come alive.
It seems to be their MO to have cold around moments events in their lives. So we were half expecting a freak blizzard. But the night remained perfect and the party flourished.

Kristina & Ryan are two people we can’t imagine without the other. The way they look at one another and smile cements our belief that two can be far greater than one plus one.
Honeymooning in Barcelona, Florence and Rome, we look forward to their US return.
