We pride ourselves as being the best Acadia proposal photographers because of our knowledge of the island (we are locals!) Knowing great Plan B options for any weather is part of what sets us apart. Often that might involve using private land (we know a few people!)
However, after years of photographing surprise proposals in Acadia National Park, and Dan & Amy were our first Plan B couple! Mount Desert Island is no stranger to the variability of island weather. However, this was the rainiest July to date. So, we couldn’t imagine trying to sell the idea of waking up for sunrise when it was fogged in with “iconic Maine” scenes. Instead, we recommended pushing the time back to a more lazy rainy day hour (checking 5 different weather app to time it just right.) And changing the location.
And thus Plan B was activated! Knowing exactly what areas on the island would be magical under the weather conditions, and with maximum privacy, we guided Dan. And Dan redirected and coerced Amy with no trouble. We took full advantage of the flowing water, misty scenery and casual rain droplets.
Hearing fog horns in the distance, lobster boats trolling by, we couldn’t have asked for a more “Maine” experience. And Amy & Dan sported their new LL Bean rain attire sourced from the Freeport outline on their drive to the island. Perfect!
No tears were shed over missing the sun and having slept in. Each of us threw our shoes off and waded barefoot in the water. We couldn’t have asked for a better “2nd best.”
