Summer camp weddings have a special place in our hearts, they truly allow for a couple’s creativity and unique personalities to shine. Erik and Juliette took this to a new level with a blend of France meets Boston at Camp Waziyatah in Waterford, Maine.

Yup, the two worlds converged for a Friday night talent show! Complete with Country Roads, songs in French (if we spoke French we could tell you what!) And audience participation songs late into the evening before everyone turned in to their cabins.

Juliette grew up in France, a total cheese-aholic but with a refined delicate way that an American can’t seem to achieve quite as effortlessly. She ventured into Canada to McGill University of Montreal.

Erik grew up in Woburn, Massachusetts in an Irish family that could hold their own at street hockey or in the eye of a New England blizzard. A musician at heart his McGill experience took him outside the classroom to an Irish bar with his guitar. It was that bar where one day a pretty French girl walked in for his set.

They quickly bonded over a Guinness, moved to Cambridge, Mass and settled into a life full of music, hiking, travel and good cheese! We can confirm all of these as our first meeting was hiking up Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire where Juliette presented a cheese and baguette summit picnic complete with a floral “table” cloth.

The “Wedding in the Woods” had every bit of rugged elegance that Juliette and Erik embody, and exactly what you’d expect after a “ring on her tomato plant” proposal! From a canoe entrance and guitar solo to the canoe rescue and baby’s breath floral crowns.

The romantic white voile hangings framing the alter, moss covered roots, golden lake backdrop and rustic wooden benches created a fairytale setting for this adventurous life-loving couple. And made for a perfect canoe exit, complete with champagne.

Another awesome part of camp weddings is the ability to have such variety! Theater for a talent show, amphitheater for ceremony, lake for pre-wedding recreation and awesome photo ops. Campfires, dinning halls, cabins, lawn games…the possibilities are endless!

Families blended seamlessly together under the canopy of lights in the dining hall for a buffet dinner and a night of wild dancing.

And every wedding deserves the appearance of photo booth props on the dance floor, a limbo contest and a cheese-wheel cake!

Thank you Erik and Juliette for showing us how to let loose without losing our sophistication, eat cheese for dessert, bridge language gaps with music and take camp weddings to a whole new level! We love you guys, and can’t wait for many more hikes in our future!
