These NH same sex engagement photos are the result of a slightly un-conventional path. Tara and Amanda were engaged for two years, they already had a different New Hampshire wedding photographer booked. Their wedding venue in Waterville Valley pushed their date back by a year due to a conflict which was obstacle one. Then, their original photographer received the surprise news of being pregnant and due right around their October wedding date! She contacted us, sad to not be their photographer anymore, but excited that we would be a great match for these two.
So, the four of us met in a bar (okay, well it doubles as a coffee shop and bookstore as well) in Portsmouth, NH. There was next to no “warm up” as we jumped right in with laughter and jokes, over the fact we had both forgotten our wallets and had to pay by check (thank you Book and Bar for accepting such an archaic form of payment!) Amanda is in the Coast Guard, stationed in Portsmouth, while Tara works for the family construction company in Rhode Island. They are apart most of the week, so the weekends are filled with adventure for them, mostly including Duke (their overeager golden retriever.) I’m not sure how we managed to find any time for wedding talk, but by the end of the night we were official!
A few weeks later we found ourselves at Tara’s family lake home in Holderness, where Duke and Kula became friends. Then off for a slightly buggy (but entirely gorgeous) hike up West Rattlesnake Mountain. Overlooking Squam Lake and Lake Winnipesaukee, this was a hike with huge payoff! It’s also where we gave these two our encouragement to let their goofiness shine!
Tara and Amanda radiate with energy, love and unbridled fun! We’re not only looking forward to more time with them, but also meeting their friends and family, whom we can imagine are just as awesome! And Amanda, we still want a tour of your “office”!
