Whaaaat? We do family photography in Acadia? Yep. Every so often, we venture to one of our favorite spots in the park with a family. This one was a little different. We first met Lindsay in 2012, then photographed her and Rob’s wedding in 2013. Three years later we photographed Kelly and Joe’s wedding. Turns out the family has a shared love of Acadia. Kelly, a pro biker, rides the roads and trails with Joe and her dad. While the park offers hiking for the whole family. And Bar Harbor charms them all with the local shops, coffee options, and ice cream.

So, when they reached out wanting a family photo session in Acadia, it was an easy yes. The family is full of personality, which makes photos easy. An evening session after the sun began falling provided a perfect scenic backdrop for us. And while we rarely photograph children, this baby was all smiles. Essentially we had an hour play time on the rocks. Now the family needs to record some music to go along with their new album pics!

Will we photograph families again? If they’re fun loving, young at heart, and love Acadia, then definitely! Our own history with the island began as family getaways back in the 40’s. Over three generations, we have rented lots of camps, cottages, and farmhouses. And created an annual family gathering space with permanence in 2011. Which has now become a primary residence. But, the tradition continues. Each summer, both immediate and extended family flock to MDI. We relive memories, and create new ones.
