📍 1. Cadillac Mountain
Cadillac Mountain is one of the most common places to propose in Acadia. Probably because it’s just the most popular place. It’s likely the first thing that pops up in most searches for “Where to propose in Acadia.” Or maybe it’s just because it’s such a beautiful spot. At 1,530 feet, it’s the tallest peak on the East Coast and offers sweeping, panoramic views of Frenchman Bay, Bar Harbor, and the surrounding islands. During certain times of year, it’s the very first place in the U.S. to see the sunrise, making it an especially magical location to start a new chapter of your life together.
Because of its popularity, especially at sunrise and sunset, Cadillac often requires a timed vehicle reservation—and you’ll likely be sharing the view with many, sometimes hundreds of other visitors. With sometimes multiple proposals happening simultaneously. For some couples, that sense of shared awe adds to the moment. Others imagine something more private and reflective.

🫖 2. Jordan Pond
Jordan Pond is a classic Acadia destination, beloved for its tranquil waters and picture-perfect views of the North and South Bubbles. The loop trail around the pond offers quiet corners and scenic lookouts, and the historic Jordan Pond House—with its famed tea and popovers—adds a timeless New England charm.
It’s a lovely spot for a lakeside proposal, especially for couples who want to include a leisurely walk or a celebratory meal afterward. Just keep in mind that the area can get incredibly busy during the day, particularly in peak season, meaning parking will be an issue.

🌊 3. Sand Beach
Tucked between forested cliffs and rocky coastline, Sand Beach is one of Acadia’s most photogenic and unique coastal spots. Its soft, golden sand and crashing waves make it feel like a world apart from the rest of New England. A sunrise proposal here can feel ethereal, with soft morning light and mist rising from the surf.
That said, it’s the park’s main beach and can draw a good number of visitors. Still, if you’re drawn to the idea of proposing on the shore with the ocean at your feet, it’s absolutely doable.
