Ben reached out to us for help planning a private Acadia proposal in June. Answering our booking questionnaire, he mentioned Maya loving flowers three times. And in parenthesis “(especially lupine.)” Anyone who is familiar with Maine in June will see the instant opportunity here. And happening to own a lupine field pretty much secured the “as private as possible” part! While their visit to Acadia was later in the month when the bloom is typically at an end, this year’s Spring was unusually delayed. June 17th ended up being perfect!
We provided detailed directions, string trimmed a walking path for them, and set ourselves up in the field pretending to be tourists. Our field is often visited by people stopping on the side of the road to take pictures. So we didn’t think it would look too weird. And having just bought a new truck, it had out of state license plates. So we hoped it threw the scent off even more.
Ben led Maya down the path, and paused right where we’d instructed him. And the rest unfolded perfectly. Having met through a mutual friend, and gone on a first date for ice cream (which turned into a 13 hour event), they moved in together 3 weeks later. Their comfort together and affection for one another was palpable. They expressed more through body language than words, and subtly infused this with tender goofiness. And their sense of adventure to try some new locations was amazing.
No spot we hit was actually in Acadia. One location being members-only, another our private property, the third town land. Hidden treasures which they trusted us to guide them to. A private proposal was an understatement as we didn’t see anyone else. And felt like we were in a secret garden. Glowing from evening golden light. There’s a reason they call it the “Quiet Side” and we got the best of it!

It really is our favorite place on the planet and certainly one of the top National Parks in the country! Our process for Acadia proposals starts with getting to know the proposer and understanding what their vision of the event is. If an Acadia proposal on Sand Beach at sunset is what speaks to you, then we’re all for helping you plan it. Or we can help you find the perfect spot with fewer people and stress-free parking. Kate has been visiting Acadia every year since she was born and introduced Keith when they shot their first wedding together there.
