There’s nothing quite like planning a surprise proposal in Acadia National Park. Especially when it’s for two people as joyful and adventurous as Josie and Alyssa. When Josie reached out to us, she knew she wanted to propose in a place that captured everything Alyssa loves most: nature, adventure, and the peace that comes from being surrounded by trees and ocean air.

When we asked Josie to tell us about Alyssa, she joyfully said, “Alyssa is gorgeous and infatuated with the Earth. She loves all things green and would live in the outdoors if there were good enough showers.” Alyssa teaches high school math and loves animals, hiking, and visiting National Parks. Together, they’re on a mission to visit them all—so far, they’ve checked off about a dozen!

Josie and Alyssa’s story began back in college, when they met online during the pandemic. With everything closed, their early dates were simple. Driving around town, talking for hours, and getting to know each other one car ride at a time. “We saw each other every day for the first 10 days,” Josie told us. “And we’ve been together ever since.”

When it came time to plan her Acadia National Park proposal, Josie was prepared. She reached out to us TWO YEARS in advance! Our reply was to ask if there was a typo in her date. Also, to reach back out when travel plans were set. We figured it was unlikely we’d hear back. But to our surprise, Josie reached back out 6 weeks prior to her planned trip, ready to jump into action. Josie wanted an intimate and scenic location away from the crowds. Somewhere that would feel like them. Together, we scouted one of Acadia’s hidden gems, with sweeping views of the coast and just enough privacy to let the moment unfold naturally.

The result? A heartfelt, joy-filled “yes” surrounded by the wild beauty of Mount Desert Island. And a cheering section of their friends.

We love helping couples like Josie and Alyssa plan their Acadia surprise proposals, creating authentic, emotional experiences that reflect their love stories.
