Before we dive into Holly and Andy’s hilarious and wonderful wedding in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region, we have to give you a little background on how we’ve come to know these two smart, funny, incredible people.
We first met Holly and Andy when we shot Amey and Mike’s wedding in Aruba in 2016. Mike and Andy are both part of a group of college guys whose camaraderie and deep friendship is the stuff of legend. And which is marked by total and utter hilarity. We witnessed this first hand in Aruba over beach volleyball, snorkeling, and riding ATVs in the desert (have we mentioned that we have the best and most adventurous clients ever?).
The connection that began in Aruba led to the patio at Portsmouth Book & Bar to talk through plans for their wedding in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region. Holly and Andy share our love of dogs, so we brought our sweet old girl, Kula, and she doted on them by laying on their feet throughout our meeting. We already knew this couple was a blast to be around and we were excited to make our work at their wedding official!
In case you aren’t familiar with the area, New Hampshire’s Lakes Region is full of gorgeous views of lakes and mountains. It is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream for paddlesports, hiking, biking, and other active pursuits. Holly and Andy chose to have their Lakes Region wedding at The Margate Resort, tucked along the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee near Laconia, NH. The tall pines and sparkling blue water created the perfect backdrop for their laughter-filled wedding.
One of our favorite moments from their day was the ring exchange during their ceremony. Andy turned to best man Brett (whose wedding we can’t wait to shoot in Jamaica next year!) who looked shocked and turned behind him to the next groomsman in line as if to say “uh, do you have it?” That groomsman turned behind him with the same look, and so on down the line. Then it trickled back up to Brett who then “remembered” and busted open his suit to reveal a fannypack with the American flag which held the ring box.
Hilarious.
And it only got better from there. Holly and Andy’s awesome choreographed first dance, the non-stop antics of their friends and families (this was a guest list dedicated to fun, fun, fun!), it was a wedding for the books. And to top it all, they sweetly gifted us a pint of fantastic vegan ice-cream and Kate-friendly gingersnap cookies for dessert!
Holly and Andy’s New Hampshire Lakes Region wedding was full of energy and laughter. It is a perfect example of how a wedding can be beautiful and memorable simply because of those in attendance. Our favorite weddings are always the ones where the couple’s unique personalities and community can be felt wholeheartedly, and where the focus is centered around authenticity rather than antiquated ideas of what a wedding “should” be.
Holly and Andy- thank you for creating such a fun-filled day and choosing us to capture it all for you! We loved working with you guys and are so excited to have you join our team over at our non-profit, Sustainable Seacoast!

And the shenanigans begin…

Lake Winnipesaukee and the foothills to the White Mountains make a pretty stunning backdrop for portraits!

There were just as many sweet moments as hilarious ones…

…and as much laughter as joyful tears!

The famous ring exchange…these guys.

We’ll be heading to Jamaica with this amazing group of friends for the wedding of our fanny-pack wearing best man & his future wife, a bridesmaid at this wedding too.

Married!!!

We’ll call this “Sparkler Group Hug”!

We love that Holly and Andy carved out time for some photos with us in the gorgeous last light of the day. That extra few minutes of quiet time together in addition to great portraits is a bonus that couples often remark on later. Win win!

Time for that choreographed first dance!
